These are undoubtedly one of the hardest times music venues ever had to face. Yet we are convinced that together, we are stronger to deal with the many challenges that lie ahead. That’s why we are seeking to open our platform and add 5 new associate member venues to our growing family.
Six years ago, 13 iconic music venues in the four corners of our continent created Liveurope with the appetite to strengthen their ties and embark on a collective European adventure. Today, the platform unites 16 venues working closely together to boost Europe’s music diversity. We aim to reach 21 venues in 2021 with the ambition to become even more representative of Europe’s geographical diversity.
Our key mission is to encourage concert venues to promote the circulation of emerging European artists through an efficient, simple and progressive bonus mechanism. In addition, our tight-knit network helps our members to exchange common challenges and good practices regularly, and get closer to each other’s music scenes.
As associate members, you’ll get to:
- Join a network of internationally acclaimed music venues
- Acquire the Liveurope quality label for venues committed to European diversity
- And potentially benefit from our bonus mechanism to strengthen your European programming in the longer run
Liveurope is supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union and has been highlighted as one of the key partners of the European Commission in the music sector.
Interested?
- Read the call listing the benefits and requirements of the associate membership;
- Fill in the programming template;
- Submit your application online before 19 February.
Applications will be reviewed by the Liveurope coordination unit and will be submitted to an evaluation by the Liveurope Steering Committee, the platform’s governance body.

2020's Corona Pandemic crippled the theatrical industry while creating a huge demand for video on demand (VOD) services globally. The growth in viewing options and content has been staggering, and recent announcements from Hollywood indicate that VOD will have a place alongside theatrical exhibition for the foreseeable future.
The major question on everyone’s lips for 2021 is how are audiences going to behave post lock down, and what impact will this have on the entertainment industry.

TorinoFilmLab launches the fifth edition of SeriesLab, an annual programme aimed at developing innovative and high-profile international TV series projects.
The lab stands out for involving all the main players involved in TV series production – scriptwriters, producers and TV broadcasters – and for offering a close link between scriptwriting process and TV industry.
It is open to up to 9 projects, which will join an intensive course – from June to November 2021 – and foresees 2 residential and 1 on-line workshops.
The lab follows the entire process of creation of a TV series concept, offering the support of highly qualified tutors and story editors in generating ideas and structuring the material, up to a final presentation in front of a selection of the major key players of the international TV industry, during a special event organized by TorinoFilmLab in conjunction with one of the main European TV series markets.
From this new edition, SeriesLab wants to empower the support offered to the producers of the projects selected, to develop and produce successful TV drama series for an international audience. During the workshops producers will have the chance to work on their projects guided by international experts and mentors.
The aim is to draft the treatment of the pilot and the concept presentation (mini-bible) of the project.
SeriesLab is realized thanks to the support of the Creative Europe - MEDIA Sub-programme of the European Union; with the support of: Millimeter Film; in partnership with: VAF - Flanders Audiovisual Fund. Thanks to these partnerships SeriesLab will welcome 1 project from each of the following territories: Georgia and the Flanders region of Belgium, whose participation in the programme will be supported by the above-mentioned institutions.
Who can apply?
SeriesLab is open to professional European* scriptwriters, directors and producers. Each participant can submit only 1 project, individually or in a team of two members; in exceptional cases a third participant (co-writer or attached producer) can join by paying an additional fee.
The programme is open to both original concepts and adaptations; in this second case the team must have secured the rights for the book or other work on which the series is based.
Candidates have to send a concept for a short or long TV series. Concepts for documentaries projects will not be accepted.
It is highly recommended to present the project together with a production company. The attached producer must join the workshops together with the team of authors.
Applicants must confirm their availability for the workshops and the final presentation.
The working language of all SeriesLab workshops, meetings and events is English; thus, a good knowledge of English is essential in order to participate.

The CEE Animation Forum is the leading regional pitching, financing and co-production event. It aims to boost the international circulation potential of projects, as well as their visibility and access to a wider European market.
With our growing professional network, we are building a strong community with the aim to support the projects, to boost the circulation of works and creative ideas, and the creation of new partnerships, to give media exposure to selected projects through various media partners, and to promote projects throughout the year, not only during the event, i. e. to follow the life of the project after the Forum as well.
The main focus remains on the two most important Forum activities: the pitching of animated projects in development and 1:1 industry meetings.
This year we have decided to expand our focus and add a section for the category of Rising stars – student films. Due to the success of our traditional CEE Talents selection for young authors, we strongly believe that the emerging new talents from the region need to be supported and showcased in their own section as well. We want to provide them with the opportunity to present their work.
Submissions are open to animated** projects in development.
Categories
- Short Films (maximum length of 20 minutes; all stages of development except for concept stage)
- TV Series and Specials (web and TV series of any format and single films, minimum length of 20 minutes; all stages of development except for concept stage)

As a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic the 33rd European Film Awards will take place as a series of virtual events produced from the European Film Academy’s seat Berlin without an audience in the room. Every evening will see a livestream of “The EFAs at Eight”, celebrating the nominees and winners of the various categories of the 2020 European Film Awards.
The EFAs at Eight events will kick off on Tuesday, 8 December, at 20:00 with a high-profile group discussion about the future of European filmmaking after Covid-19 and close with the grand finale on Saturday, 12 December, at 20.00.
EFA Chairman Mike Downey: „the times we live in call for innovation and extra creativity. In this unusual year, this will be an unusual, and, we hope an exceptional, awards ceremony – one with a different approach, that will allow us to give more attention to the various awards presented. Necessity being the mother of invention, we have chosen to try out this different format, and will use it to see how we will further develop the EFAs in the years to come.”
The entire programme will be streamed live at www.europeanfilmawards.eu and through an international network of streaming and broadcasting partners, with the nominees & winners joining via live video conference.

The discussion will mainly focus on the Caucasus region and Georgia, more precisely. It will be a great opportunity for filmmakers and producers who are willing to submit their projects to various film festivals, as they’ll get recommendations and practical tips directly from decision-makers.

This year 65 Europa Cinemas members across Europe will be taking part in the European Cinema Night from 16th to 20th November to celebrate together the richness of the European film culture
Creative Europe MEDIA, in collaboration with Europa Cinemas, is organising the third edition of a unique outreach event with the objective of bringing Europe closer to citizens, while celebrating together the richness of European film culture. The European Cinema Night will take place in 65 cities across Europe and will reach approximately 10,000 people.
In 2018 and 2019, European Cinema Night events took place respectively in 34 and 54 Europa Cinemas member theatres in all countries of the European Union. MEDIA-supported films from over 30 different nationalities were successfully presented to audiences all over Europe, with the participation of renowned directors such as Nanni Moretti, Benedikt Erlingsson, Adina Pintilie, Teona Strugar Mitevska, etc.
In 2020, in this unprecedented year, the European Cinema Night will offer more than ever a great opportunity to highlight the essential role of cinemas in the circulation and visibility of European films, attract audiences to celebrate the richness and cultural diversity of European cinema, raise public awareness of how MEDIA supports Europe’s film industry and culture as well as film theatres.
This year, due to the current crisis, not only physical screenings at the cinemas will be proposed, but exceptionally as well virtual screenings via online platforms, if the cinema is currently closed.
Each cinema participating in the European Cinema Night will choose and screen a European non national MEDIA-supported film with free admission and create a debate around the movie and the European Commission’s support for the film.
Altogether 45 different MEDIA-supported films have been chosen by the exhibitors this year, according to their knowledge of their audiences, which embody the richness and diversity of the European audiovisual landscape.
This event is part of the European Commission “going local” communication campaign, which shows citizens how European policy is linked to their lives – in this case to the emotions they feel at cinemas – and how by attending a locally-grounded event they can be part of a globally-connected experience across Europe. By connecting cinemagoers in numerous cities across Europe, the ECN aims to strengthen their shared European identity rooted in our cultural diversity and values, hence bringing EU policies closer to their everyday lives.

This year the Piksel Festival has been waiting to the last minute to release the open call in the hope the Covid rules would relax a bit, mainly regarding the obligation to quarantine artists at arrival in Bergen.
As the festival is approaching, they finally decided to do a double open call.
One is for artists travelling from non quarantine countries who can travel to Bergen (Norway).

The fear of the coronavirus outbreak keeps wreaking havoc across the world, and the European film industry is certainly no stranger to its repercussions. After the alarm was first raised in other sectors, it is now the film industry's turn to suffer cancellations, postponements and reorganisations due to the measures being adopted by various European governments. As the number of infections escalates quickly all across the continent and the authorities attempt to stop it from growing any bigger, film bodies in charge of organising film festivals, markets and other events are being forced to modify them and adapt them to the current situation.

Creative Europe Georgia is organising a conference focusing on MEDIA subprogramme “Opportunities for Film Makers” in the framework of the 20th anniversary Tbilisi International Film Festival
at Rooms Hotel Tbilisi on December 5th
We are honoured and happy that our friend and colleague Martina Petrovic, the Head of Creative Europe Desk - MEDIA Office Croatia, will give a workshop on how Georgian filmmakers can benefit from different funding strands under MEDIA subprogramme (being a partial member of the programme). Additionally, colleague from ะัะตะฐัะธะฒะฝะฐ ะะฒัะพะฟะฐ (Creative Europe Ukraine) Ksenia Kalyna will join our conference and share Ukrainian experience with the programme.

i-Portunus continues to support the mobility of artists, creators and cultural professionals among all countries participating in the Creative Europe Programme. A second pilot project was selected and co-funded by the Creative Europe program and a consortium headed by Goethe-Institut with Institut français and Izolyatsia. This second phase runs from the end of 2020 until the end of 2021.
More than ever i-Portunus mobility is needed to answer to the existing and new needs of the creative sectors by offering a demand-driven mobility scheme that allows direct application through a straightforward and flexible process.
i-Portunus’ main focus is to connect artists and to support international collaborations. This will be done via physical mobility but also, if necessary, by virtual or blended mobility variations.
i-Portunus will launch five open calls for applications, targeting artists, creators and cultural professionals in music, literary translation, architecture and cultural heritage in December 2020, January 2021 and February 2021.
i-Portunus dedicates a total budget of 500.000 EUR with a fixed amount per applicant for transportation and per diem, depending on the destination country and the duration of the mobility.
